Some information on DAM:

DAM (Dansk Amatørmusik / Danish Amateur Music) was established in 2009 as an umbrella over Danish choir- and orchestraorganizations. Today the organization includes about 40.000 members in 14 organizations, - about 34.000 choir singers and 6.000 instrumentalists.
One of the aims of DAM is to create a more visible profile and a better recognition of the amateurs in Danish musical life, both towards the ministry of culture and the official culture institutions and organizations, and also towards other acting organizations in the Danish musical world.
DAM is taking care of the international network, a.o. through membership of IFCM and Europa Cantat.

DAM is offering education for the conductors, a summer course for young musicians and education for board members (volunteers) in choirs and orchestras.
On behalf of the Danish Art Council DAM is administrating financial support for amateur choirs and orchestras on a high level.
DAM is also publishing a magazine.

The DAM Secretariate offers administrative assistance and support for the member organizations. The staff also includes the National Advisor for choirs and orchestras.

Other organizations are Jeunesses Musicales Denmark (Musik & Ungdom) and Landsgardeforeningen (Association of Danish Marchbands).
